AANHPI & APIDA Heritage Month

May is Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Desi Heritage Month. Celebrating and honoring the beautiful diaspora, I will be highlighting wonderful local creatives and artisans. Learning and connecting can help support and uplift our community.

Carrie Abbott, Founder & CEO of Newfangled Confections & owner of The Best Chocolate in Town.

Let’s meet Carrie Abbott, owner of The Best Chocolate in Town. Carrie manufactures candy and is inspired by start-up business, ownership, leadership, and innovation. She is South Korean and was adopted. She believes everything has led her to where she is today. The past experiences build on the previous one.

Laughter and Asian food brings Carrie joy. One tradition Carrie and her daughters have is to get coffee every Thursday morning. They call it “Thirsty Thursday”. She is a sucker for a good hibachi. She enjoys the visual of the whole foods, sauces, high heat cooking on a griddle and being served. She loves to cook. She is proud of her camping food game. Carrie loves to have lunch at Mama’s Korean restaurant at least once a week.

One advice Carrie offers to those looking to enter her field: “Plan to fail. Fail hard. You’ll learn a lot and learn to adapt.”

She is excited to share this Sat., May 4th is the first anniversary of The Best Chocolate in Town returning to Mass Ave. Come celebrate and enjoy these special deals! Cheers Carrie and Happy Anniversary!
