AANHPI & APIDA Heritage Month

May is Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Desi Heritage Month. Celebrating and honoring the beautiful diaspora, I will be highlighting wonderful local creatives and artisans. Learning and connecting can help support and uplift our community.

Hae Lee Cho, wedding florist.

Meet Hae Lee Cho. Full time attorney, part time wedding florist, and forever foodie. Hae Lee enjoys doing creative activities such as editorial photoshoot with local photographers and other artists who she can share ideas and artistic views. She also loves to travel, especially to California and Korea. Hae Lee loves to share and support diverse cultures in the Indy community through sharing diverse dining options here.

Familiar with floral designs and style in Korea, Hae Lee infuses this softer and more romantic elements to her designs. Korean’s whimsical and airy designs are also on trend here in the U.S.

Exploring near and far brings Hae Lee joy. From supporting small local businesses to trips to different sates and countries with her husband. She loves spending time with her pups, Luna and Milo. She finds joy introducing hidden gems and local shops to people who aren’t familiar with Indianapolis or the diverse culture in Indiana. When people tell her how her content has helped them to find their favorite dishes and places here, it brings Hae Lee joy.

Hae Lee enjoyed past wedding floral designs. Spring flowers are her favorite, being able to incorporate Spring flowers into her wedding designs makes Hae Lee ecstatic. Her bride was from Korea like Hae Lee, which she enjoyed working with her in Korean and sharing common grounds as native Koreans.

Hae Lee has brought a refreshing and much needed voice to our Indy foodie community! She is making her mark with her wonderful highlights of diverse restaurants and shops.

Tradition is important to Hae Lee. She expresses “My language, my name, and Korean Food matter. These elements are essential to form my identity. My grandfather named me, and I have precious memories on Korean food that I enjoy.” It has been crucial for Hae Lee to be connected with a Korean community in Indiana. She has been the legal director of Indiana Korean American Association since 2019. This has given her great opportunities to be connected with local Korean ad Americans who understand the importance of diversity.

Hae Lee’s advice for food content creators: “Don’t chase the trend. Be the trend and follow your heart. Just do it and worry later if you’re going to make it or not. You are never too old to start.”

What is this forever foodie’s favorite food or meal? Kimchi and galbi, Korean BBQ, and Korean fried chicken!!
