AANHPI & APIDA Heritage Month

May is Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Desi Heritage Month. Celebrating and honoring the beautiful diaspora, I will be highlighting wonderful local creatives and artisans. Learning and connecting can help support and uplift our community.

Laura Lachowecki, owner of Filigree Bakery.

Meet Laura Lachowecki. She is a Korean adoptee who resides in Indianapolis. Laura owns and operates Filigree Bakery. Filigree is a boutique bakery located in Meridian Kessler. She operates under the Indiana Cottage Food Law and specializes in French macarons and cakes. Her macarons and cakes have the most beautiful designs that Laura creates! She finds inspiration from nature and various mediums of art. She loves working with floral and using buttercream as her medium for palette knife cake paintings.

Laura’s advice for aspiring bakers: “Be patient. You don’t develop skills overnight. Work hard. Work ethic will determine how successful you are. Ask questions. It’s okay to not know everything. Use all of your resources to gain knowledge.”

She shares one of her favorite moments is hand painted macarons that were featured in Indy Monthly. Her kids are her biggest joy. She loves sushi and all brunch food!

You can find Filigree Bakery every Saturday at Broad Ripple Farmer Market. You can also get treats on Market Wagon.

Laura was recently on Indy Now!
